Prayers and Peonies

Prayers and Peonies

Welcome, y’all, to my first ever blog post. The Grace Real is an everything faith and wellness blog and I’m so glad you’re here!

Two of my favorite things are prayer and peonies. They are both seemingly simple, yet can be stunningly complex. They both can brighten someone’s day, yet are given at good times and bad. They both require some tending to, but when you take notice, they can bloom beautifully. If I were in a room with nothing but prayer and a bouquet of peonies, 1) the room would obviously be more lively, buy 2) I think I would truly be at peace. Other than being a few of my favorite things (did anyone else read that in Julie Andrew’s voice from the Sound of Music?), I think they make a good representation of what this faith and wellness blog can be. Something easy and pretty and pleasant.

As a Christian girl in my early twenties, I often struggle with life in general and how it aligns with my faith. This is sometimes in the form of handling peer pressure, feeling guilty about not being devoted enough to my faith, trying to impress people for the wrong reasons, or in a number of other ways. I often question if I’m doing the right thing, if I’m going in the right direction with my life, where the line is drawn on certain things, the list goes on. It is safe to say that I often fall short of grace on my walk with Jesus.

Although I’m not always proud of who I’ve been or things I’ve done, I find peace in knowing that God gives me all the days of my life to keep trying to do better without judgement. Of course I don’t have it all figured out and I won’t pretend to, but I think that’s what life is about…learning from mistakes and striving to be better each day. Life can be hard, and figuring out the transition into adulthood is not always easy. BUT, life is a journey. What would we learn if there weren’t ups and downs along the way? The excitement and joy should come from knowing that it does get better, God is for us not against us, and no matter where you are or where you’ve been, it is never too late to put a better foot forward.

I am here, writing this, because I want to push myself out of my comfort zone and grow in my faith as well as strengthen the confidence that I have in myself to be a better Christian and a better person (see my post on that here). I depend on prayer and God to get me through, but sometimes it also helps me to write things down.

I wanted to start this faith and wellness blog to help (try to) talk about my two biggest passions- faith and wellness- and how they go hand in hand with being a Christian.

This blog is not only for girls and not only for Christians; I believe that may be the most relevant target, but I’m hopeful that anyone at all can get something out of it.

Now disclaimer, I am not an expert in these things (except maybe in the career/finance category because I do hold a degree in that…jk, still not an expert), but I am passionate about them. These are mainly opinion pieces and I will try to avoid anything too controversial. I can sometimes (often) be a little outspoken, but at the end of the day, my goal is to resolve conflicts, not start them. The intentions of this blog are genuine and loving.

I am excited to keep posting content, in the meantime, I am more than happy to get in touch with anyone reading this about personal comments, concerns, prayers, or just to chat.
